Welcome Students!

Greetings one and all and welcome to the UMR Catholic Newman Center! Here at the Newman Center we have a lot going on. First, we have all kinds of opportunities to grow in spirituality and faith. From retreats to socials to service work, we do a vast number of different events to help you discover God in life. Secondly, Newman is a great place to we have a lot of events to just relax from the busy nature of school. Every month we have social events to invite everyone to just relax and un-wind for a bit. Finally, we have all kinds of opportunities to participate in whatever way you want. Every semester we have a major retreat and a major fundraiser. Every month we have a social and several service activities. Every week we have events focusing on the spiritual life, Wednesday and Sunday Mass, and after Mass on Wednesday we gather in the student lounge to have cookies/brownies/sugary goodness and just relax.

The doors to Newman are open almost everyday and I invite you to stop on in. We have a wonderful director who is always there to show you around. We have an open refrigerator normally full of food for the taking. We always have cookies. And there is always an open chapel if you just need a few minutes to reconnect a little bit with yourself. Of course we also have a resource center with new computers, internet access and printing services.

So I speak for everyone at the UMR Catholic Newman Center when I say, "Welcome to UMR! We hope you stop on by and check us out, because we are just as excited to meet you." I strongly encourage visiting the Newman Center and find that missing couch, cookie, chapel, community, service, etc. that you might need during your time at UMR. Peace.
